The glory of valor never fades

On April 30, 2024, 1st-year students of “International Relations and Restaurant and Hotel Business” majors (STEM) held a festive event “The glory of valor never fades” on May 9 “Victory day”. Organizers: Kurmanbayeva Alma Aliyevna, (Candidate of Philology) associate professor of the “Journalism and Translation” department and senior lecturer (Master of Education) Zhagiparova Maira Musaevna.

Veterans who participated in the event: Asen Suleymenovna Bespaeva – chairwoman of the Veterans’ Council of Bostandyk district, Klara Artemovna Letnikova, public figure, winner of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of “Kurmet” and Akhmetova Laila Seisenbekovna, doctor of historical sciences, professor; author of works on history, political science, media education, civil society, researcher of Kazakh journalism and public figure.

Murzagalieva Togzhan and Karim Aigerim conducted the event in Kazakh and Russian. The event was opened by Natalya Sergeevna Gerasimova, vice-rector for social and educational activities of “Turan” University. Moderator Kurmanbaeva Alma Aliyevna began with a congratulatory speech.

Klara Artemovna and Asen Suleymenovna shared their memories related to the difficulties during the war. They gave advice to the students based on the thoughts they gathered from those war.

Laila Seysenbekovna, a well-known researcher of Kazakhstani journalism, presented useful and interesting information about the search system for soldiers participating in the Great Patriotic War, interviews with surviving defenders, meetings, researching documents in archives, museums and libraries, in her pre-prepared presentation. Laila Seysenbekovna asked the students about the information. Also, for giving the most accurate answers, the book “Panfilovtsy: nasha khorda, nasha slava” (764 pages) was given to Nurgazina Aliya and to the organizer of the event.

The event continued with the students watching a video prepared by Birlik Serikuly, a student of “Turan” University, about Tuimebai Ashimbayev, one of the frontline correspondents, and students answering the questions of the presenters about the video. Also, Karim Aigerim presented a short presentation about his grandfather, a veteran who participated in the war.

The visiting veterans watched the concert program prepared by the students and were in high spirits.  The participants played the dombra, read poetry, performed Kazakh and Uighur dances individually and in pairs. The event ended with students singing the song “Katyusha”.
