Professor of the Department of Tourism and Service, Doctor of Geography Cherednichenko A.V. – speaker-trainer at the workshop on Climate Finance

On March 12-14, 2024, in Tashkent, on the basis of the project to create a regional hub for transparency of climate action in Central Asia (ReCATH) in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor of the Department of Tourism and Service, PhD. Cherednichenko A.V. spoke as a speaker-trainer at a workshop on climate finance. The purpose of the regional practical training is to strengthen the technical capacity of national experts in Central Asian countries.

The project to create a regional climate Action Transparency Hub (English: ReCATH) in Central Asia is the implementation of the Climate Action Transparency Initiative (English: ICAT), which supports countries in developing their capacity to create and manage a reliable transparent structure that allows them to effectively fulfill obligations under the Paris Agreement and facilitates the transition of countries to new reporting according to the Expanded Transparency Framework (PPT/ English: ETF). To this end, ICAT has developed transparency modeling methodologies and tools that can be adapted to the needs of countries.

Solving the problem of climate change implies the implementation of mitigation and adaptation measures. Thus, countries need to integrate climate change aspects into all national planning tools; strengthen institutional and technical capacities; carry out activities in relevant sectors, eliminating data gaps and improving assessment methodologies, as well as collecting accurate and up-to-date information to create and regularly update databases on greenhouse gas emissions.
