Round table dedicated to the International Human Rights Day within the framework of SDG 16

On December 10, 2024, a round table dedicated to the International Human Rights Day was successfully held in the conference hall of the Coworking Center of the Turan University Graduate School of Law. The event was held within the framework of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 16), aimed at promoting the building of a peaceful and open society, ensuring access to justice for all and creating effective, accountable institutions.

 

During the discussion, the participants touched upon a wide range of topical issues related to human rights and freedoms, paying special attention to modern challenges and opportunities for legal regulation.

 

The participants of the round table were students, undergraduates, and doctoral students of the educational programs “International Law,” “Jurisprudence,” “Legal support of business (Corporate lawyer),” “Public Relations,” as well as the teaching staff of the Graduate School of Law.

 

The presentations of invited experts gave special value to the discussion: Khalida Kanatbekovna Azhigulova, lawyer, Doctor of Law PhD, international consultant to the United Nations on human rights, shared her experience working with international human rights organizations and spoke about global initiatives in the field of human rights. Zhanna Mukhamadievna Urazbakhova, a criminal lawyer who advocates for the protection of women’s rights and the implementation of social initiatives in Kazakhstan, revealed the key problems of protecting vulnerable groups of the population.

 

Moderators of the round table, Director of the Graduate School of Law, Associate Professor, PhD, Dzhumabayeva Karlygash Asilkhanovna, and Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Law, PhD, Momysheva Farhiya Sautbekovna, skillfully guided the discussion, creating an atmosphere of open and constructive dialogue.
