Grants and discounts

Hundreds of students (lucky holders of state grants) who have chosen us among other universities enter our university every year.

Government grants are allocated annually for educational programs throughout Kazakhstan. When applying for participation in the state grant competition, you need to specify the code of the university where you plan to study (the code of our university is 093). As a rule, state grants are distributed among the highest UNT scores. And if you become the grant holder, it goes to the university that you specified when applying.

• at least 75 points in the field of education “Law” (at least 5 points in the History of Kazakhstan and specialized subjects and at least 3 points in Reading Literacy and Mathematical Literacy)
• at least 50 points in other educational programs (at least 5 points in History of Kazakhstan and specialized subjects and at least 3 points in Reading Literacy and Mathematical Literacy)

130 points or more – Turan University Grant

125-129 points – free training (2 years)

120-124 points – free training (1 year)

110-119 points – 50% discount of the first year of study

100-109 points – 30% discount of the first year of study

90-99 points – 20% discount of the first year of study

80-89 points – 10% discount of the first year of study

* These discounts and grants apply to full-time education, to all specialties except Directing, Cinematography, Acting, Film and TV producing,  Computer Engineering and Software, RET (Radio Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications), Software Engineering, Journalism and Public Relations.

The «‎TURAN UMITІ» internal educational grant is awarded annually based on the results of an internal competitive selection. Based on the results of the competition, the following grants and discounts are provided:

• 1st place – 4 years of free education
• 2nd place – 2 years of free education
• 3rd place – 1 year of free education

Persons who have scored 80 or more points on the UNT (out of 140 possible), as well as those entering after college in a related specialty, who have scored 40 or more points on the UNT (out of 70 possible) or 40 or more points on the internal exam are allowed to participate in the competition.

Criteria of the competition for the rector’s grant:

1. availability of “Altyn Belgi”;
2. UNT certificate scores or internal exam scores;
3. average certificate/diploma score;
4. participation in international and republican subject Olympiads and scientific competitions approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as in subject competitions and Olympiads at Turan University;
5. availability of international language certificates IELTS or TOEFL no more than two years old at the time of filing the documents.

You can check with the university admissions office for current information on registration deadlines. To register, you must submit documents to the university.

Turan University gives applicants the opportunity to receive grants for free education. According to the results of the competition the following grants are provided:

1 place – 4 years of free education

2nd place – 2 years of free education

3rd place – 1 year of free education.

The competition runs for several months and covers all of Kazakhstan to give everyone the opportunity to participate.

Stage 1 – Register on the website and write an essay on “How I see the future of my country and what I can do for it. Send the essay to grant@turan-edu.kz

Stage 2 – Test for logic and critical thinking. The test is held online. Password and login are sent in advance to the e-mail of a participant who passed the previous stage successfully.

Stage 3 –  interview with the members of the competition committee. Participants who have successfully passed the previous stages of the competition are admitted to the interview. The interview is conducted in person for residents of Almaty and Almaty region and remotely for residents of other regions. The date and time of the interview will be determined individually for each participant, the details will be sent by e-mail.

125 points or more – Turan University Grant

120-124 points – free training (2 years)

115-119 points – free training for the first year

110-114 points – 50% discount in the payment of the first year of study

105-109 points – 30% discount in the payment of the first year of study

100-104 points – 20% discount in the payment of the first year of study

95-99 points – 10% discount in the payment of the first year of study

Graduates of secondary schools who have the sign “Altyn Belgi” and have scored 105 or more points at the UNT are provided with free 4-year training.

Graduates of secondary schools who have the “Altyn Belgi” sign are provided with free education for 2 years if they have 95-104 points on the UNT certificate.

• College graduates who have diplomas with honors are given
  a discount of 50% of the cost of the first year of full-time study.
• Graduates of the colleges “Turan”, “Turan-Astana” and CATEC are given a discount of 20% of the cost of the first year of full-time study (Russian/Kazakh).
• Graduates of the colleges “Turan”, “Turan-Astana” and CATEC are given a discount of 30% of the cost of the first year of full-time study (STEM Business School).
• Graduates of the colleges “Turan”, “Turan-Astana” and CATEC are given a discount of 10% of the cost the first year of full-time study on the job with the use of remote technologies.

Benefits for admission to the scientific and pedagogical magistracy have:

• Graduates of the University “Turan” who have a diploma with honors – 25% of
  the annual tuition fee. Those who have a diploma of the usual sample – 10 % of
  the annual tuition fee.
• Graduates of other universities entering the master’s program, who have a diploma with
  honors, are given a 15% discount from the annual tuition fee in the payment
  of the first year of study.

At the master’s degree programs of the scientific and pedagogical profile (2 years of study), excellent students at the end of the year who do not have a grade lower than “A-” in the transcript with a GPA of 4.0 are given 20% discount, with a GPA of 3.67 and higher – 10% discount from the cost of the previous academic year.

The internal educational grant “TURAN UMITI” is awarded annually based on the results of a competitive selection.

Persons who have scored 75 or more points on comprehensive testing (CT) are allowed to participate in the competition. Applicants entering master’s programs in groups of educational programs that require creative preparation are admitted to the competition based on the results of CT and creative exams (75 points or more).

When summing up the results, the competition commission takes into account:

1. CT certificate score;
2. GPA/average point of bachelor’s degree;
3. 3) Level of knowledge of foreign languages, confirmed by international certificates;
4. 4) Personal achievements in scientific and sports events.

• Certificates for a period of no more than two years of limitation at the time of submission of documents
• iscounts and grants are provided for studying at the STEM Business School for applicants and transfers from other universities for the entire period of study

• Graduates of the Turan Lyceum school (if they have at least 75 points out of 140 on the UNT) are given a discount of 20% of the cost of the first year of study (Russian/Kazakh). Graduates of the Turan Lyceum school (if they have at least 75 points out of 140 on the UNT) are given a discount of 30% of the cost of the first year of study (STEM Business School).
• Students of the first degree of kinship (parents, siblings) are given a 10% discount if they have supporting documents
• Prize-winners and participants of competitions, intellectual events of the university are given discounts for the first year of full-time study according to the established sizes
• In bachelor’s degree programs, excellent students at the end of the year with a GPA of 4.0 are given 20% discounts, with a GPA of 3.67 and above – 10% discounts. Discounts are provided on the recommendation of the dean.
• Orphans (if both or the only parent died), children left without parental care are given discounts of 15%
• Disabled people of groups I-III are provided with discounts of 5-15% (taking into account the annual renewal of supporting documents).
• Students from large families receive discounts of 10% (taking into account the annual updating of supporting documents). The student’s age is not more than twenty-three years.
• Students from large families (whose mothers were awarded with “Altyn alka”, “Kumys alka” pendants) are given discounts of 15% (taking into account the annual updating of supporting documents). The student’s age is not more than twenty-three years.
• Representatives from large families are given discounts of 20% (taking into account the annual updating of supporting documents).
• The winners of the “Best Graduate” competition are given a discount in the payment for master’s/research  studies at the Turan University. The amount of discounts is approved annually by the Rector’s order.
• Members of the Turan-Zerde Alumni Association, as well as their children, are given a 10% discount, close relatives – 5% of the cost for each year of study, subject to payment of the annual membership fee
• The University provides 50- 100% discount on training for active athletes, subject to the student’s contribution to the formation and improvement of the positive image of the university, subject to the participation of athletes under the flag as part of the national team of the University “Turan”: masters of sports of international class and masters of sports (by types included in the program of the Universiade RK, NSL RK), candidates for masters of sports, holders of the 1st category (by sports included in the program of the Universiade of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NSL(National Student League) of the Republic of Kazakhstan), finalists and prize-winners of the regional stage of the NSL of the Republic of Kazakhstan, graduates of sports schools and academies, sports clubs of the Republic of Kazakhstan
• The University allocates (25 % – 3, 20 % – 3, 15 % – 10, 10 % – 10) discounts on tuition for the current academic year following the results of the previous year for student activists, including AGITKA TEAM (15% – 5, 10% – 5) participating in image, social and other projects, work free of charge in various departments and structural subdivisions.
• University employees who have at least 3 years of work experience at the University, as well as their children, are given a discount of up to 15%.
