Turan University students at an altitude of 4376 meters!

Turan University students ascended Almaty Peak (4376 m) in honor of the 95th anniversary of Kazakhstani mountaineering

On July 6–7, 2025, the annual mountaineering event (alpinada) took place, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Kazakhstani mountaineering.

Students of the “Tourism” educational program — Alexander Belousov (3rd year) and Viktoria Kalinina (1st year) — took part in the ascent.

The climb was made to a peak of great significance for Kazakhstani mountaineers — Almaty Peak (formerly known as Komsomol Peak and later Nursultan Peak), which symbolizes the history and development of mountaineering in the region.

On July 5, the students began their route from Medeu to Nunatak via the Bogdanovich Glacier. At an altitude of 3,500 meters, the participants set up a tent camp.

On the morning of July 6, at 3:00 AM, the headlamps of the climbers lit up as they prepared for the ascent. By 7:00 AM, having gained 500 meters in elevation, the participants reached the mountain pass, where the technical part of the route began — they had to put on helmets and harnesses. The remaining elevation to the summit was 376 meters.

At 10:20 AM, our students reached the peak.

We express our gratitude to the Almaty Mountaineering Federation and the Almaty Mountaineering School for organizing the event, the work of the volunteers, and holding this alpinada, which promotes active recreation and popularizes mountaineering.
