Guest lecture by Mustafina Elmira Talgatovna, a leading specialist of the Kazakhstan Association for Biodiversity Conservation for students of the OP «Tourism»

On September 25, 2025, Mustafina E.T., a leading specialist of the ASBK (Kazakhstan Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity), delivered a guest lecture to students of the educational program «Tourism» as part of the course «Local History and Museology» (lecturer, Ph.D. Fayzullina G.Sh.). Elmira Talgatovna spoke about current trends in volunteerism, such as citizen science, and shared examples of how photographing nature can make a scientific discovery. By engaging in citizen science, students can make a personal contribution to science and help scientists collect data, gain practical experience in observing natural objects and phenomena, and form a community of like-minded people.

On the page tabigat.media  you can find out the latest news about the biodiversity of Kazakhstan. For example, there are about 520 species of birds in Kazakhstan, etc. The Merlin BirdID app helps identify birds by their voices. During the lecture, students interactively joined the process of observing nature by registering on the website inaturalist.org , uploaded their photos with images of animals. We also looked at books and booklets published by the Kazakhstan Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity. In the future, students can work in the classroom with these publications.
