The Balance of Punishment and Rehabilitation: HSE Students Met with Judge Ruslan Baishev

The Turan University Graduate School of Law hosted a guest lecture for students on the topic “Justice against addiction: the balance of punishment and rehabilitation in drug cases among young people.” The speaker of the event was Ruslan Zholymbetovich Baishev, a judge of the judicial board for criminal cases of the Almaty City Court.

The moderators of the lecture were:

• K.A. Dzhumabayeva, PhD, Director of the Higher School of Law;
• Alayeva G.T., Professor at the Higher School of Economics;
• Aldabergenova N.A., Professor at the Higher School of Economics.

During the lecture, students gained a deep understanding of a balanced approach to punishment and rehabilitation in cases of drug addiction among young people, studied practical aspects of judicial practice, and discussed effective methods of prevention, legal regulation, and social support for young offenders.
