Roundtable discussion on nuclear non-proliferation for “International relations” program students

On November 18, 2025, “Turan” university hosted a roundtable discussion on nuclear non-proliferation for students of the “International Relations” program. Students who prepared seven mini-research projects participated in the roundtable, along with invited experts:

 

  1. Adlet Kumar – Diplomat of the MFA of Kazakhstan, founder of Business Protocol LLP and Goodwill AqNiet Foundation
  2. Kuat Dombay – Diplomat, communications Director, board member of the NOMAD Insurance; Director General of the C5+ Center.

 

Moderator Suzhikova Sherin Maratovna opened the discussion, emphasizing the relevance of the topic and the importance of developing a deep understanding of international threats and mechanisms for preventing them among young researchers.

 

During the roundtable, student groups presented papers on a wide range of topics: from nuclear deterrence and international inequality within the Non-Proliferation Treaty to the role of the UN and IAEA in nuclear technology control. Contemporary challenges, the risks of nuclear terrorism and illegal technologies, and the impact of new military and digital developments on global security were discussed. Following the presentations, the participants exchanged views in an open discussion, and invited experts shared their professional assessments of the presented research and outlined key areas for further research on the topic.

 

The roundtable provided an important platform for developing students’ critical thinking and analytical skills and fostered young people’s interest in international security issues. The event concluded with words of gratitude to all participants and a call for continued research in the area of ​​preventing global threats.
