Round table: Turan River – the main river of Central Asia

At present, one of the urgent problems for the Republic of Kazakhstan is water deficit. In the address of the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan under the title “Fair Kazakhstan: law and order, economic growth, social optimism”, the need for a thorough solution to the problem of irrigation systems and general issues of water management was emphasized, and tasks were given to relevant specialists to solve this problem.

 

On September 25, “Turan” University hosted a round table discussion on “Turan River – the basis of the Central Asian river”. The event was initiated by the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “Turan” University provided support and ensured that the event was held at the appropriate level.

 

Representatives of the country’s competent water-related bodies participated in the round table: Rector of Turan University, Honored Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan – Rakhman Alshanovich, Director of the Kazakh Research Institute of Water Management – Nurlan Nurmakhanuly, Professor of the Kazakh Research Institute – Karlykhan Orazkhanuly, Director of the Institute of Hydrogeology named after U.A. Akhmedsafin – Malis Kudysovich, Director of the International Scientific Complex “Astana” – Kairat Amengeldinovich, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Farhat Shaymuratovich, Professor of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University – Almas Toktasynovich, Head of the Laboratory of Water Supply of Natural and Economic Systems and Mathematical Modeling of the Water Security Institute – Lidiya Sergazievna, General Director of the Systems Research Company “Factor” – Mars Bekkaliyevich, as well as the main speaker, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences – Serik Minavarovich, and university lecturers and young specialists.

 

The main goal of the event was to listen to and analyze the speaker’s report, aimed at addressing the issue of water scarcity in the country, as well as to facilitate a thorough and effective discussion.

 

The report generated significant interest among the participants. The relevant specialists shared their opinions on the presentation, noting that it is an important and necessary project. They highlighted the need for a larger event in the future, involving representatives of government bodies, so that the project can be considered at a higher level.

 

In turn, the Rector of the university, Rakhman Alshanovich, thanked the speaker and the participants, emphasizing that the country needs such projects. He added that the university always supports initiatives aimed at the development and strengthening of the country and is ready to serve as an effective platform for dialogue.
