On October 17, 2024, undergraduates, students (gr. 222(4) and 232(3) and teachers (Fayzullina G.Sh., Koichubaeva D.S.) of the educational program “Tourism” of the Higher School of Tourism and Hospitality of Turan University within the disciplines “Creation of the Kazakh tourist brand”, “Local history and museology” visited at the exhibition with an author’s tour from Aizhan Bekkulova. The exposition of the personal exhibition, called “ZhZL”, featured more than a hundred works by the artist created from the 1990s to the present. Aizhan Bekkulova, President of the Union of Artisans of Kazakhstan, was awarded the Order of “Kurmet” (Order of Honor), as well as the National Tourism Award in December 2019 for her unprecedented contribution to the development of handicrafts and the preservation of the intangible heritage of Kazakhstan.
This event is especially significant in connection with the approval of the application to grant Almaty the status of a World City of crafts. The city will have a special sign, and representatives of the World Council of Crafts recommend installing a stella at the entrance to the metropolis, which will inform that Almaty is the world city of artisans.
