A Professor from the Higher school of Psychology Presents at an International Conference

On November 6, 2024, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the II Zharikbayev Readings, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Psychological Science and Education: From History to the Future,” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of KazNU and the memory of Professor K.B. Zharikbayev.

 

Marat Abubakirovich Asimov, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor at the Higher school of Psychology, Turan University, delivered a keynote address titled “The Problem of Educational Psychology in Kazakhstan: Issues of Developing a Program for the Development of Mental/Psychological Culture and Literacy among Citizens.”

 

In his speech, Professor Asimov emphasized the insufficient involvement of educational psychologists in the development of psychological and mental education in Kazakhstan, as well as the lack of attention to issues of personal mental hygiene. He highlighted the urgent need to improve the level of psychological literacy among the population. To illustrate potential solutions to this problem, the professor presented the results of foreign studies dedicated to the integration of mental hygiene practices into educational programs, with a particular focus on the method of self-regulation among schoolchildren.
