On November 12, 2024, the Center for Regional Studies at the Higher School of International Relations and Diplomacy, Turan University, hosted a lecture “Chinese migration to the Russian Empire and the USSR” by Professor of the Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk, Russia), Doctor of Sciences (History) V.G. Datsyshin. Vladimir Grigoryevich Datsyshen is a well–known Russian historian, Sinologist, a specialist in the history of relations between Russia, Mongolia and Japan, ethnic history and history of peoples of Southern Siberia, Chinese and Japanese migration in Russia. The scholar discussed current problems of the history of Han Chinese immigrants in Siberia and the Far East in the context of Russian-Chinese relations, highlighted the main directions of the development of Chinese studies in the Russian Federation. The lecture was delivered to students majoring in “Regional Studies” and “International Relations”, as well as the teaching staff of the University “Turan”. The Director of the Higher School of International Relations and Diplomacy, Prof. A.T. Mukhambedyarova, Director of the Center for Regional Studies, Prof. A.K. Kamalov, Associate Professor Z.K. Karimova, lecturers A. Altynbek and A. Abdrakhmanov participated in the discussion of the issues examined in the lecture.
