On March 20, one of the brightest and warmest holidays of the year — Nauryz — was celebrated at Turan University. The event brought together students, professors, and guests, filling the day with a spirit of spring renewal, friendship, and cultural richness.
Nauryz is not just a date on the calendar — it is a symbol of new beginnings, peace, and prosperity. On this day, the university truly came alive: traditional music played, laughter echoed, and a festive buzz filled the air. The event opened with welcoming words from the hosts, who reminded everyone that Nauryz unites people regardless of nationality or background. It is a time when ancient traditions are revived in the modern world, and kind wishes come true.
The celebration began with a musical performance of “Nauryz-Duman” by the beloved student organization Muslab, instantly lifting everyone’s spirits with spring vibes. One of the most memorable moments was the dance performance by the Turan’s Trumps ensemble. The concert concluded with a gentle composition titled “Waltz of Spring,” reminding everyone of the beauty of awakening nature.
After the concert, guests enjoyed traditional Kazakh games such as arqan tartys (tug of war) and asyq atu (a game with knucklebones), in which participants took part with great enthusiasm. Everyone was also treated to fragrant baursak and nourishing nauryz-kozhe, symbolizing abundance and well-being.
See you next year!
Nauryz is more than just a holiday — it’s a tradition that brings students and teachers together every year, filling the day with joy and the warmth of spring. We’re sure that next year’s celebration will be even brighter, but the emotions of this day will stay with us for a long time!
