On April 17, 2025, Professors Zh.M. Tolen and Zh.R. Agybay of the Higher School of International Relations and Diplomacy at Turan University delivered a distinguished guest lecture at the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, titled: “Kazakhstan’s Foreign Policy in Central Asia: A Decadal Evolution and Regional Dynamics.” The lecture provided a rigorous examination of the principal trajectories that have shaped Kazakhstan’s foreign policy over the past decade, emphasizing its nuanced transformation in response to regional and global developments.
The aim of guest lecture was Kazakhstan’s continued commitment to a multi-vector foreign policy strategy – one that seeks to balance and maintain equidistant, cooperative relations with major global and regional actors, including Russia, China, the European Union, and the United States. The speakers highlighted how this approach reflects Kazakhstan’s aspiration to assert national sovereignty while engaging constructively with a diverse array of international partners.
