Director of the Center for Regional Studies, Prof. Ablet K. Kamalov, took part in the meeting of members of the editorial boards of the multi-volume “History of Kazakhstan”

On April 21-25, 2025, the Library of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty) hosted a series of meetings under the title “History of Kazakhstan: from Antiquity to the present time” held for members of the editorial boards of the seven-volume “History of Kazakhstan”. One of the meetings was devoted to discussion of the contents of the Second volume of the book, which covers the ancient Turkic period in the history of Kazakhstan (6th to 14th centuries).

 

Bulat Eshmukhamedovich Kumekov, head of the author’s team of the Second volume, full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, was the main speaker at that session. B.E. Kumekov substantiated conceptual approaches to the history of early medieval Kazakhstan, the main of which are the concepts of steppe civilization and ancient Turkic statehood, rooted in the history of the Huns, Saka, Ussuns and other inhabitants of ancient Kazakhstan. He also substantiated the structure of organizing the material in the volume and the narrations on ancient Turkic states.

 

The main principle of the formation of the editorial board of the Second volume of the History of Kazakhstan was participation in its writing of experts on the history of ancient Turkic states, which include B.E. Kumekov, T.S. Zhumaganbetov, M. Kalmenov, T. Choroyev (Chorotegin), A.S. Kadyrbayev, Peter Golden, Akhmet Tashagil, and others. The meetings of the members of the editorial boards of the Seven-volume “History of Kazakhstan” were attended by the Director of the Center for Regional Studies of Turan University, Doctor of History Ablet K. Kamalov, who is one of the authors and a member of the Editorial Board of the Second volume of the “History of Kazakhstan”. Kenzhe U. Torlanbayeva, Professor of the Higher School of International Relations and Diplomacy at Turan University, Doctor of History, is another contributor and Editorial Board member of the Second volume of the book.
