On April 28, 2025, the Turan University Graduate School of Law hosted a guest online lecture for undergraduates and doctoral students on the topic “Progressive systems for the execution (serving) of criminal sentences in the form of imprisonment in Russia and Kazakhstan: are they facing a crisis?” Vyacheslav Ivanovich Seliverstov, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at Lomonosov Moscow State University, spoke at the event. The lecture aroused great interest among the audience and became a significant event in the framework of scientific and educational activities of the university. The discussion was devoted to the current state of penal enforcement systems, issues of penitentiary policy reform, as well as a comparative analysis of approaches from Russia and Kazakhstan. Thanks to the high professionalism of the speakers, the participants gained in-depth knowledge based on theory and many years of practice.
