Eco-initiative «Weekend Hike and Care for Nature»

As part of the course “Tourist, Excursion and Sports Training,” students of the Tourism educational program regularly organize environmental initiatives and practical activities aimed at developing professional skills and environmental awareness.

On October 9, 2025, second-year Tourism students took part in a weekend hike through the Prokhodnoe Gorge to the Terra Glade and Alyoshkin Bridge. During the route, they practiced elements of tourist techniques, orientation, and trip organization. On the way back, the students cleaned up the area, collecting litter and clearing riverside spaces left polluted by careless visitors.

Such initiatives help future tourism professionals develop not only endurance and practical competencies but also a sense of environmental responsibility, love for their homeland’s nature, and a conscious attitude toward the environment.

These activities align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education (through fostering ecological and civic awareness among students),
  • SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation (through cleaning riverside areas and promoting careful use of water resources),
  • SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities (through maintaining cleanliness and improving natural recreation areas),
  • SDG 13 – Climate Action (through cultivating a culture of responsible behavior in nature),
  • SDG 15 – Life on Land.

The group was supervised by lecturers of the Higher School of Tourism and Hospitality, A.A. Ergeshov and A.V. Velichko.
