City Business Project Competition “Ideas that Change the World”

The Higher School of Economics and Management of Turan University invites high school and lyceum graduates, as well as college students, to participate in the city competition of business projects “Ideas that Change the World”. The competition is aimed at identifying proactive, creative and entrepreneurially-minded young people who are ready to propose practical solutions for the development of the economy, business and the urban environment.

1. Objectives of the Competition
   – to develop entrepreneurial thinking among school and college students;
   – to foster practical skills in economics and management;
   – to support promising business ideas that can be implemented in the modern market environment;
   – to strengthen cooperation between Turan University and educational institutions of Almaty.
2. Organizer of the Competition
   The organizer of the competition is Turan University (Almaty).
   The competition is held with the organizational and expert support of lecturers and practitioners in economics, management, marketing and entrepreneurship.
3. Participants
   The following categories are invited to participate:
   – graduates of the 11th grade of secondary schools and lyceums of Almaty;
   – students of colleges of Almaty.

Participation in the competition is free of charge.

4. Topics and Areas of Projects
   The competition accepts business ideas and projects in the following areas:
   – entrepreneurship and small business;
   – company management and development (management, HR, operations management);
   – marketing, digital marketing, customer service;
   – creative industries and service industries;
   – social entrepreneurship and sustainable development;
   – digital solutions and online services related to economics and management.

Projects should be practice-oriented, take into account the target audience, resources and expected results.

5. Timeline
   The competition will be held from 12 November to 23 November 2025.

Within this period the following stages are envisaged:
– submission of applications and project materials;
– work of the expert commission;
– in-person defense of the best projects at Turan University;
– announcement of results and awarding of winners.

The exact schedule of stages and the format of the final defense are specified in the Official Regulations of the competition.

6. Format of Participation
   Individual and team projects (up to 3 participants) are accepted.
   The project application must include (according to the Official Regulations):
   – a brief description of the idea;
   – problem statement and justification of relevance;
   – description of the target audience;
   – basic business model (how the project creates value and operates);
   – an indicative implementation plan.

Projects and applications are submitted electronically to the address indicated in the Official Regulations of the competition.

7. Evaluation and Results
   Projects will be evaluated by the expert jury of Turan University according to the following key criteria:
   – novelty and originality of the idea;
   – feasibility and viability of the project;
   – socio-economic significance;
   – clarity, logic and structure of presentation;
   – entrepreneurial potential of the author(s).

Winners and prize-winners of the competition will be awarded diplomas and memorable prizes, and will also receive opportunities for consultations and mentoring support at Turan University.
