A 4th-year student of the “Tourism” educational program at Turan University, Anvar Akylbekov, took part in a major international competition in roller sports held in Tianjin (China) from October 26 to 29.
The competition brought together more than 300 athletes from over 10 countries around the world.
Roller sports is a rapidly developing discipline, and in Kazakhstan, the Almaty Roller School team has managed within several years to enter the global elite of roller sports and successfully represent Kazakhstan at major international events.
Anvar Akylbekov, the leader of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan, managed to step onto the podium three times in three disciplines — bronze in slides (a discipline where the athlete must perform the most difficult stop on roller skates), bronze in slalom, and silver in the high jump discipline.
