Outcomes of the Scientific and Practical Seminar for Master’s Students of the Higher School of Psychology

On November 22–23, the scientific and practical seminar “Foundations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: From Theory to Practice – IV” was held, dedicated to fundamental theories and contemporary approaches in cognitive‑behavioral therapy.

 

 

Over the course of two days, participants engaged with key topics in behavioral psychotherapy, including:

 

  • P. Pavlov’s teaching and the problem of objectivity in psychology;
  • The subject matter and tasks of behavioral psychology according to J.B. Watson;
  • Instrumental learning as conceptualized by E.L. Thorndike;
  • Operant learning as developed by B.F. Skinner;
  • Specific features of CBT application in anxiety disorders.

 

 

Seminar Facilitators

 

  • Elena Stankina – clinical psychologist, gestalt therapist, CBT therapist;
  • Roman Ponomarev – clinical psychologist, CBT therapist.

 

Both speakers shared their professional experience and practical tools, while also responding to participants’ questions. This interactive format rendered the seminar dynamic and highly beneficial for future specialists.

 

The seminar was attended by master’s students of the Clinical Psychology educational program. For them, the event provided an opportunity not only to become acquainted with classical theories but also to observe their application within contemporary practice of cognitive‑behavioral therapy.
