Dear colleagues!
The Center for Advanced Training of Lawyers at Turan University (certificate of accreditation in the Republican Bar Association dated 07/28/2025) informs that as part of the continuous professional development program, a refresher course will be held on the topic: «Fairness and competitiveness — interdependent principles of effective judicial proceedings (using the example of high-profile criminal cases in Russia)».
The lecture will present an analysis of the implementation of the principles of fairness and competitiveness in criminal proceedings using the example of the most high-profile and socially significant criminal cases in modern Russia.
The main issues of the program:
- The role of the court, investigation and protection in emergency situations;
- Problems of proof and allocation of responsibility;
- Ensuring the rights of victims and accused;
- Mechanisms for compensation of harm, including in international courts.
Practical cases will be considered:
- the tragedy in the Karmadon gorge and the death of director and actor Sergei Bodrov;
- terrorist attack at the Theater Center on Dubrovka («Nord-Ost»);
- Collapse of the dome of the Transvaal Park entertainment complex;
- The Superjet-100 plane crash at Sheremetyevo Airport and subsequent court proceedings.
Target audience: lawyers, judges, teachers of legal disciplines, senior law students.
