Director of the Center for Regional Studies Professor Ablet K. Kamalov acted as an official opponent for the defense of the doctoral dissertation at the University of Oriental Studies in Tashkent

On January 24, 2026, Director of the Center for Regional Studies at Turan University, Prof. Ablet K. Kamalov participated in the meeting of the Doctoral Dissertation Council at the University of Oriental Studies in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) acting as as an official opponent of the dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences on the topic “Socio-economic foundations of the administration of the Turkic Kaganate” in the specialty “World History”.

 

The doctoral thesis was completed by J.Y. Ergashev at the Bukhara Pedagogical University under the guidance of the well-known historian Prof. Sh. M. Vokhidov. Other opponents of the dissertation were Prof. N.E. Karimova from Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek Republic and Prof. Aşik Alpaslan from the Kyrgyz-Turkish University “Manas” (Kyrgyzstan).

 

The dissertation was positively evaluated by opponents, who emphasized significance of the study, which examines the history of the early Turkic states through the prism of the concept of steppe civilization.

 

Participation of Ablet K.  Kamalov in the academic event of the University of Oriental Studies in Tashkent opened up new prospects for cooperation between the Center for Regional Studies and research centers in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, with which necessity of an agreement on cooperation was discussed.
