International Scientific and Practical Forum “Global Changes: Challenges of Science and Education” in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Turan University

On October 6, 7, 2022, our university hosted a grandiose International Scientific and Practical Forum “Global Changes: Challenges of Science and Education” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the founding of Turan University.

The event was attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek. In his speech, the minister emphasized the achievements and challenges of the Turan University and at the same time considered the current issues facing the higher education of the republic. Also identified the basic priority tasks and challenges facing the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Turan University:

  • Turan University should position itself as a center of innovation, scientific and technological, personnel and industrial activity in the Southern region. Become a strategic platform for the interaction of all key stakeholders.
  • science and higher education should be synchronized with the real needs of the economy of the region and the country as a whole. Therefore, the country’s universities should implement a new model of advanced staffing. Become local centers of excellence. Turan University needs to further develop its scientific and innovative potential, conduct foresight research and forecast the needs of the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in personnel for the next 5 years. Today, unfortunately, university science has not become the main one, it has not become the platform that should nourish fundamental, applied science. Here we will concentrate very big efforts – support and financing of research and development (R&D), that is, applied research remains the basic priority of the ministry. A comprehensive popularization of science is needed, it is very important to make science popular and interesting again, and a scientific career – a kind of big career springboard. Together we must return the status of a scientist as an innovator, as a person who moves and improves the world and our country.
  • Universities should train personnel based on the real needs of the labor market. Today, there is an excess of specialists in the humanities in the labor market, while at the same time there is not enough personnel in the field of engineering and pedagogy. The model of higher education must be flexible and adapted to the current and future demands of the labor market, effectively acting as a “social lift” for our citizens.”
  • creating favorable conditions and environment for learning, updating the educational product of higher education and constantly improving the quality of education in accordance with the dynamically changing global market for innovative and scientific achievements.

The event was attended by over 50 prominent foreign and domestic speakers from 30 countries. This is Prof. Dr. Giese Roland Professor of the Institute of Applied Sciences, Zittau, Görlitz, (Germany) Honorary Professor of the Turan University, foreign scientific consultant for doctoral students, more than 10 applicants successfully defended under his leadership, Prof. Dr. Blagoyev Veselin Ivanov (Bulgaria), Prof. Dr. Jesus Garcia Laborda (Spain), Alexander Gorylev Associate Professor, Lobachevsky University (Russia), Aliev Urak – Vice-President of the educational corporation “Turan”, Professor of the University “Turan-Astana”, Doctor of Economics, Academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Sokolov Sergey (Russia), Professor Sharad Kumar (Jamaica), Tulegenova Madina – Professor of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, General Producer, Member of the Board of the State Center for Cultural and Cultural Interest Abeldinov Adai, Director of the Research Institute of Tourism of the Turan University Vukolov Vladimir and others.
