Professor of the Department of Regional Studies and International Relations of the “Turan” University A. Kamalov elected President of Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS)

Professor of the Department of Regional Studies and International Relations of Turan University Doctor of Science in History Ablet Kamalov was elected President of the Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS), a professional organization uniting researchers of Central Asia and adjacent areas of Eurasia.

 

Based in the United States of America, CESS aims to promote communication and interactions between researchers in the Eurasian region and high academic standards in this academic field. The organization was set up in 2000 and hosts annual conferences in North America, holds regular forums in Central Eurasia. It annually awards the best books, articles, etc. in the field of Central Eurasian studies, supports two professional journals on Central Asia, provides travel grants, holds seminars and maintains a website.

 

CESS is governed by the Executive Committee and the Board. A.K. Kamalov was a member of the CESS Board in 2003-2006. In 2022, he was elected its President, thus becoming its first President from the region. Earlier, in 2020-2022, A.K. Kamalov was President of the European Society for Central Asian Studies (ESCAS).
