On April 19-20, 2024, the annual International Conference “Turan Model of United Nations 2024” (TURAN MUN 2024) was held at the Turan University under the direction of the Department of Regional Studies and International Relations, dedicated to the discussion of current problems of world politics, which is closest in form to meetings of UN committees.

Baykenov, Deputy Director of the Center for Peacekeeping Operations of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Abazov R.F., Director of the Institute of Green and Sustainable Development at KazNARU; Delovarova L.F., Director of the UN Regional Information and Resource Center at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The international conference “Model UN” was attended by over 300 delegates from schools, colleges and universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad.
During the Opening of TURAN MODEL UNITED NATIONS 2024, students of the University of Turan presented a concert program on the theme of war and peace, in which students of the University of Turan performed thematic musical numbers. Experienced UN students shared from the stage their experience of participating in the Model UN game and the opening of the event ended with the “delegates’ oath” in three languages.
Conference participants chose positional roles in three committees: the General Assembly (UN GA), the Security Council (UN SC), UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund). The goal of each committee is to find consensus and adopt a resolution on the issue under discussion.
Delegates of the committees of the General Assembly, the Security Council and UNFPA adopted resolutions on the agendas under consideration, including decisions on a strong commitment to the principles of the United Nations, the need for a united approach to solving pressing problems of world politics, in particular the fight against cybercrime, the spread of global hunger and providing global assistance to the most vulnerable segments of the population, calling for joint provision of international security and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
At the closing ceremony of the international conference “TURAN MUN 2024”, the organizers, represented by the Department of Regional Studies and International Relations, presented certificates and awarded memorable gifts to the best participants and delegates.
