On February 13, 2025, the Central University of Himachal Pradesh in India hosted an international conference titled “Supporting Women Entrepreneurs in Regions: Assessing Progress Towards Sustainable Development Goal 8 – Economic Growth and Job Creation.” The conference was jointly organized by the School of Commerce and Business and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh.
The Vice-Rector for External Relations and Doctoral Studies of Turan University, Professor Gulzhanat Zhubatkanovna Tayauova, delivered a speech as an honored guest at the opening of the international conference. In her address, Professor Tayauova highlighted the rich cultural history of relations between India and Kazakhstan, reviewed the development of women’s entrepreneurship in both countries, and emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for women to engage in entrepreneurship to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During her speech, Professor Tayauova remarked:
“Entrepreneurship is about innovation, risk-taking, and the creation of an entire system of values. When women become entrepreneurs, they not only establish business systems but also create ecosystems and lay the foundation for the future.”
Additionally, she focused on the development of women’s entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan, stating:
“In Kazakhstan, women’s participation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is among the highest in Central Asia, with approximately 43% of SMEs owned or co-owned by women.”
In conclusion, she emphasized:
“Supporting women entrepreneurs is not only about achieving gender equality but also about unlocking an additional 50% of global potential to address the world’s challenges.”
