Guest lecture on artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling at Turan University

On April 7, 2026, Turan University hosted a guest lecture dedicated to current trends in the development of artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, and computational technologies.

The speakers were:

Sergey Ivanovich Kabanikhin – Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Researcher at the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk, Russia);

Marat Amangeldievich Bektemesov – Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, General Director of the Institute of Information and Computational Technologies of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty, Kazakhstan).

During the lecture, актуal scientific approaches to solving inverse and ill-posed problems, methods of acoustic tomography, and mathematical models used in medical diagnostics and complex data analysis were discussed. Special attention was given to the application of artificial intelligence and supercomputer modeling in the development of digital twins and in solving medical imaging tasks.

The speakers also presented key areas of interdisciplinary research in AI, including machine learning and deep learning, big data analytics, computer vision, cognitive cybersecurity, and intelligent systems for industry, healthcare, transport, and environmental applications. They emphasized the importance of mathematical methods, statistics, and strong foundational training in STEM disciplines for the advancement of modern AI systems.

The event was attended by faculty members from the Higher School of Information Technology, the Higher School of Computer Engineering, and the Higher School of Telecommunications. Participants actively engaged in scientific discussion, exchanged experience with international colleagues, and explored opportunities for further academic cooperation.

The lecture served as an important platform for knowledge exchange between researchers and educators, contributing to the strengthening of scientific collaboration and the development of competencies in artificial intelligence and data analytics.

The lecture was moderated by Kali Seilbekovich Abdiev – Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, and Director of the Research Institute of Informatization and Education.
