Guest lecture on the topic “From the Eleatics to the Digital Age” with Professor Talgat Tanatarovich Ismagambetov

The higher school of International Relations and Diplomacy of Turan University organized a meeting between students and Talgat Tanatarovich Ismagambetov, a leading researcher at the Center for Comparative Political Studies of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies, Candidate of Political Sciences, and Associate Professor.

Gulnara Abraikulovna Abrakhmatova, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, introduced Talgat Tanatarovich, emphasizing the unique opportunity to directly ask questions to a renowned philosopher and political scientist. The meeting was attended by Doctor of Political Sciences A.T. Mukhambedyarova, as well as second-year students majoring in Law and Journalism.

The guest delivered a lecture on the topic “Ancient Greece: the Eleatic School and Modernity.” In his presentation, the philosopher explained, based on the geometric discoveries of the last three centuries, why being was represented by Parmenides in the 6th century BC as the surface of a sphere. He further discussed how the ideas of the Eleatics were developed in the works of Plato and in the creation of logic and biology by Aristotle and his students. In subsequent centuries, the range of sciences studying the world of things expanded. He also noted that the history of later philosophy can be derived from the concepts of being, the world of ideas, and the world of things. For a modern person, it is important to perceive the real world of objects and processes rather than be misled by deceptive audiovisual substitutions of reality.

All participants of the meeting emphasized the significant role that philosophy plays in contemporary life. The students expressed their gratitude to the guest for the engaging discussion and for answering their questions.
