Expanded Meeting of the Council of Young Scientists: Proposals for Science and Technological Policy Development Discussed

 

On January 20, 2025, the first expanded meeting of the Council of Young Scientists under the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RK) took place in Astana at the central office of the «AMANAT» Party.

 

During the meeting, a new composition of the Council was approved, including Dr. Yerbolat Orazbekuly, Director of the Commercialization Center for Research and Innovation at Turan University.

 

The event was attended by Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and leader of the «AMANAT» Party faction, Elnur Beisenbayev, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Zhumakanuly Akhmet-Zaki, and members of the expanded Council of Young Scientists.

 

 

Key Proposals:

 

  • Defining the legal status of scientists and clarifying the concept of a “young scientist.”
  • Granting NAS RK the status of a “High Scientific Organization.”
  • Ensuring the autonomy of NAS RK as an independent scientific institution.
  • Strengthening the role of NAS RK in advocating for scientists’ rights and interests.
  • Introducing a Scientific Ombudsman to oversee researchers’ rights.
  • Involving young scientists in the legislative process.

 

These initiatives aim to enhance scientific policy, support young researchers, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s innovation ecosystem.
