International Scientific and Practical Conference at the Turan University Higher School of Law

On February 26, 2025, the Turan University Higher School of Law hosted an international scientific and practical conference on the topic: “10-year practice of implementing the criminal policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the light of the current Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, CPC: results, problems, prospects.” The purpose of the conference is to summarize the results of the 10–year implementation of Kazakhstan’s criminal policy, identify key problems in law enforcement practice and discuss further prospects for the development of criminal legislation. The conference was attended by leading lawyers, scientists, government officials, judges, lawyers, prosecutors and young researchers.

 

Main topics of discussion:

 

  • Analysis of the effectiveness of the Criminal Code (CC), the Penal Enforcement Code (CEC) and the Code of Criminal Procedure (CPC);
  • Human rights issues in the criminal process;
  • Problems of criminal policy and ways to solve them;
  • International experience and its significance for law enforcement practice in Kazakhstan. During the discussions, specific proposals were developed to improve criminal legislation that can be used to further develop the legal system of Kazakhstan.
