Turan University Master’s Students Complete Academic Visit to Beykent University and TeleNews in Istanbul

Second-year master’s students of the 7M03201 – Journalism program completed a research internship at Beykent University in Istanbul, Turkey, from March 4 to 18. The visit offered them valuable exposure to an international academic environment and hands-on experience engaging with the professional media community.

As part of the program, the students visited the TeleNews TV channel on March 7. During the meeting, CEO Mahmud Oral and members of the editorial team shared insights into the channel’s establishment, development, editorial concept, and key areas of work.

The students learned that TeleNews began broadcasting on August 15, 2025, and focuses on covering current events across the Turkic world.

A highlight of the visit was an in-depth look at the newsroom and television studio. TeleNews staff demonstrated how news content is produced, how the studio operates, and how live broadcasts are organized. The master’s students also had the opportunity to observe the filming of a live broadcast.

The visit provided valuable insight into the specifics of modern television journalism and media production, allowing students to better understand how professional newsrooms operate in practice.

In addition, during the internship the master’s students collected substantial empirical material for their theses, received guidance from leading scholars on their research topics, and worked productively in the Beykent University research library.

The university expresses its sincere gratitude to the leadership of Turan University and our Turkish colleagues for the opportunities provided.
