Research Laboratory for the Study of Problems of Media Linguistics

The purpose of the research laboratory for studying the problems of media linguistics is to conduct scientific applied research on the subjects of the laboratory’s areas, the implementation of the results of research activities and the performance of research work on the profile of scientific areas of activity RLSPML of the  under contracts with customers of work on a paid and free basis.

 

By participating in this laboratory, students learn to conduct examinations, decipher articles and write their own articles correctly, as well as learn “hate speech”. There is also an opportunity to participate in interesting events, round tables and master classes.

 

The results of the study of RLSPML employees are presented in the medianet.kz brochure «Monitoring hate speech in social networks in Kazakhstan»: publication by Karymsakova R.D. «Linguistic expertise» under articles 174 and 256 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Challenges for an expert. Problems of Methodology. Publication of Altaeva A.K. «Hate speech language features in the Kazakh language based on the results of monitoring opinion leaders in 2017». In January 2018, a presentation of a collective monograph (Mass media: linguistic data of the image of an ethnic group. Collective monograph. Almaty, «Kazakh University», 2018) was held, reflecting the results of the scientific project «Content analysis of ethnostereotypes in the mass media in the Kazakh and Russian languages» (MES RK).

 

Students who attended the 3rd year discipline “Linguistic security of media text”, as well as undergraduates who studied the discipline “Linguistic conflictology for the media”, on the Turan-Lingua page on the VK social network under the guidance of Associate Professor Karymsakova R.D. conduct online consultations on issues of verbal aggression, verbal manipulation, insult, dissemination of defamatory information and other speech offenses.

 

In the direction “Conducting judicial and extrajudicial philological examinations of information materials, expert opinions”: on a contractual basis, 10 conclusions of a specialist philologist were made by Karymsakova R.D., Buzelo A.S., Zhappar K.Z. and others. Of the students who worked in the project, Kalymzhanova Asylzhan and Sovetkan Gulim can be singled out.
