The Sustainable Development Goals represent a universal call to action, spanning across countries, whether they are poor, rich, or medium-developed. They are aimed at enhancing the well-being and protection of our planet. States acknowledge that efforts to eradicate poverty must be undertaken in conjunction with initiatives to stimulate economic growth and address a range of issues in the realms of education, health, social protection, employment, as well as combat climate change and safeguard the environment.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) comprise a set of 17 interconnected objectives established in 2015 by the UN General Assembly as a “blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all.” These goals were designated in the General Assembly’s resolution titled “Agenda for the period up to 2030,” and they succeeded the Millennium Development Goals. The final document of the General Assembly, “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” encompasses 17 global goals and 169 associated tasks.
