The goal of the “Regional studies” educational program is to train specialists capable of systematically analyzing the world’s regions, highlighting their characteristics, interrelations, and role in global politics. The program is designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills for analyzing regional processes and applying this knowledge in their professional activities.
Graduates will be able to conduct analytical research on international processes, develop sound foreign policy recommendations, and participate in expert consulting activities.
They will be able to understand the main directions of external policy of foreign countries, the specifics of their diplomacy, and their relations with Kazakhstan.
Graduates will be able to navigate the current dynamics and development prospects of the international relations system; apply the fundamentals of diplomatic etiquette and protocol in practice; and use professional foreign languages in intercultural communication.

the Center for cooperation with international organizations operates in “Turan” university, which hosts various events to study and discuss current regional policy processes.
Lectures and master classes for students majoring in “Regional studies” are conducted by V. Samek, a representative of the UN Department of global communications, and A. Arenova, head of the political cooperation department of the representative office of the MFA of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty. Separate training sessions are also held at the UN Office in Kazakhstan.
Students majoring in “Regional studies” annually participate in the TURAN MUN international conference, which aims to consolidate their theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills necessary for professional work.
Students majoring in Regional Studies annually participate in academic mobility programs at leading universities in Poland, South Korea, and Turkey.
Since 2020, the High school of international relations and diplomacy has hosted a Center for regional studies, which conducts active research. The center is headed by Kamalov Ablet Kayumovich, director, doctor of historical sciences, professor, and president of the Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS).
