On April 16th, the “Turan” Library and “Turan” Film Academy held a meeting with Alexey Gorlov, director of the film “История одной старушки”.
“История одной старушки” is a strong, emotional picture, it caused sympathy and tears, a feeling of irritation and injustice among the audience. The director was asked a lot of questions about the technical part of the filming. And for a reason.
The film was shot in one frame – this is a spectacular visual technique that completely immerses the viewer in what is happening on the screen. Alexey told the audience about the subtleties of such shooting.
For example:
It reminds of a meme from the movie “DMB”, because the make-up artists, in order not to get into the frame, hid under the sofa, there was a whole team behind the camera and on the screen we “deftly enter the house and leave it” (here a surprised question from the audience: “But how did everyone pass through the doorway?!”).
“История одной старушки” is a participant of Busan International Film Festival. People’s Artist Lia Nelskaya, who filmed in the movie, received an award in the nomination “Best Actress”.
Even after the meeting was over, we did not let Alexey go for a long time, asked questions and shared emotions with each other. Alexey also spoke about his participation in major film festivals, including the Houston International Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival and the Film Festival in India. Now the director has changed his focus and defined goals that are not related to directing, but are still related to cinematography.
We wish Alexey creative success!
