The SUSTOUKA project aims to accelerate the transformation of Kazakhstan into a green economy by increasing the sustainability and competitiveness of its tourism sector, raising environmental awareness and introducing appropriate sustainable practices and technologies in the tourist accommodation sector in Kazakhstan.
January 16-20, 2023 the head of the chair “Tourism and Service”, Ph.i.s. Fayzullina G.Sh. and senior lecturer of the chair “Tourism and Service” Demeuova B.M. within the framework of international project SUSTOUKA were trained for national experts in capacity-building program for sustainable management of tourism sector. Among the participants of the training were representatives of tourism management organizations: tourist information centers, tour operators and travel agents, hotels, universities and representatives of national associations in tourism, environment and hotel business. The SUSTOUKA project is implemented by an international multidisciplinary consortium led by EKOTEK (Spain) consisting of the Kazakhstan Tourism Association (KTA), Kazakhstan Association of Hotels and Restaurants (KAHaR) and ECEAT (Netherlands). The project is funded by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH-Asia program.
The speakers of the training were Yerlan Sagatbekovich Karimov, Deputy Director of the Secretariat for Sustainable Development Goals of the JSC “Institute for Economic Research” MNE RK; Anastasia Aleksandrovna Korshunova, sustainability coach and Travelife expert; Alena Severinenko, PlastNet expert in waste management; Evgeniy Viktorovich Mukhametzhanov, founder of the ECO Network project; Manas Talgatovich Gijduaniev, Managing Director of IFCA Green Finance Center; Dauren Altayevich Khasanov, ESG officer of IFCA Green Finance Center; Victoria Olegovna Ilina, Vice-President of Asia-Pacific Region of UNESCO “Man and Biosphere” (MAB) Programme International Coordinating Board.
